When I joined Synthesis Systems as an intern, I thought I’d spend my time learning the basics of marketing. Instead, I ended up building something that reshaped how I think about automation, creativity, and growth.

The Reality of a Lean Team

Like many growing companies, Synthesis has a lean Sales and Marketing team responsible for everything from strategy and content to lead generation, sales execution, and customer expansion.

The team explored different apps, tools, and outside help to support these activities, but quickly realized that this would deplete the marketing budget on licenses, training, and unproductive cycles with agencies that did not fully understand the business. At the same time, many apps offered additional functionalities that were not required.

Not More Tools. A Better System

What Synthesis needed was not more tools, but a way to take the burden off the team and create a logical flow for content and marketing data. We already had the essentials in place: LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, Apollo, HubSpot, and Salesforce. All that was missing was connecting them into one scalable system.

That became The Smarketing Engine, a connected system built in n8n that brings data, automation, and content together into one continuous workflow.

Automation is not about replacing creativity. It is about giving creativity more space to thrive.

This project has shown me the value of using AI not to replace the people doing the work, but to make the work itself smarter. Automation is not about taking creativity away. It is about designing systems that handle repetitive labor so teams can focus on strategy, storytelling, and innovation.

Lane 1: Turning Form Submissions into Real-Time Outreach

The first component captures website form submissions, enriches the records, segments leads based on predefined parameters, and routes them directly to the right outreach sequence. What makes this so powerful is how fast it transforms data into real-time action. With this tool, we can engage instantly, with accuracy and structure that scale across the team.

Lane 2: Turning Engagement into Smart Content Ideas

The second component focuses on content intelligence. It studies what performs best on LinkedIn and our website, analyzes engagement patterns, and generates post ideas that align with industry hot topics. The goal is to build a creative process that is informed by data, not limited by it.

Where Both Lanes Come Together

When these two pieces work together, the result is a smarter, faster, and more adaptable marketing process. One that keeps creativity and connection at the center while operating continuously in the background. It also allows the team to focus on quality content, branding, and supporting sales efforts without the burden of managing and checking individual apps.

What This Project Taught Me

Building this engine has taught me a lot. I have learned to connect tools in new ways, to think in end-to-end systems, and to adapt quickly when something does not go as planned. Most importantly, I have learned the value of working with a team that supports experimentation and trusts the process of building something new.

I want to take a moment to recognize the people who made this project possible. I am especially grateful to Ron for giving me the opportunity to take on this challenge and for the trust he placed in me to bring his vision to life. That trust gave me the space to explore, experiment, and grow throughout the process. I also want to thank Felix, Natalie, Emily, and Sravya for their constant support, collaboration, and willingness to step in with feedback or fresh ideas whenever they are needed. Having a team that is so dedicated and engaged made the experience both motivating and meaningful.

What Comes Next

This project has been both a technical challenge and a creative journey, and I am excited to keep learning and growing as The Smarketing Engine continues to evolve. We are already working on the roadmap for 2026, while I go back to school.
